James Monroe began practicing law in North Carolina in 2006 and since then has worked diligently to protect the rights of people who have either been accused of a crime or who have been injured as a result of someone else’s negligence. James was recruited by the firm in 2006 because of his outstanding academic achievements, integrity, and commitment to zealous advocacy on behalf of his clients. Since joining the firm James has successfully represented numerous clients in both criminal and civil matters at the trial and appellate levels. Professional ActivitiesJames is admitted to practice in the courts of the State of North Carolina, the United States District Court of the Middle District of North Carolina, and the Fourth Circuit United States Court of Appeals. He is a member of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice (formerly the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers), North Carolina Bar Association, American Bar Association, and Durham County Bar Association. B.A., 2001, University of North-Carolina-Chapel Hill; J.D., 2006, North Carolina School of Law where he served on the Law Review. During law school James had the privilege of interning with the Honorable Ann Marie Calabria at the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
